The new year can be a perfect time to set new goals or resolutions for yourself to accomplish in the next 12 months. While it is not mandatory that these be reached in that timeframe, it can be a fun challenge to set for yourself, to see what you are able to accomplish. Today, we are sharing with you a few tips to help you stick with your new year’s resolutions – we hope these are helpful!
- Write Them All Out: Writing out your goals can be a great way to visualize what you would like to accomplish. This does not have to be anything fancy, just a way to see everything in one place. Stick this list on your fridge or another frequently visited place so that you are consistently reminded of your resolutions, each time you pass by!
- Start Small: It is important to dream big with your resolutions, while still remembering to keep them realistic. If you start with a goal or resolution you know you will likely be able to accomplish, add on a larger goal at the end that may be a bit more difficult to reach. Starting small makes it much easier to stick with your goals long-term.
- Don’t be a Resolution-Repeater: It can be easy to fall in the habit of bringing resolutions that you did not quite reach last year, into the new year. Instead of reusing your identical resolutions, evaluate any progress you have made towards those goals and set a fresh goal based on that information.
- Gather a Support System: It has been proven that having someone to hold you accountable to reach your goals actually WORKS! If you are having difficulties motivating yourself to reach one of your resolutions, consider bringing your family and/or friends into your plans so that they can be your personal cheerleaders along the way. Finding others who share the same goals can be a another helpful tool.
